cSPHERE A25 inert ceramic balls are Interra Global's house brand of ceramic support balls: silica-alumina ceramic spheres at 68 to 73% silica and 23 to 30% alumina, an inert bed support media that holds a catalyst or adsorbent bed in place above the support plate and distributes flow through it. Interra Global recommends A25 where bed temperatures are kept at or below 325°C (617°F), which covers the general run of drying and purification beds; the ceramic's maximum use temperature on the data sheet is 1800°F (982°C). A25 is the general-purpose grade of the inert bed support media Interra Global supplies: PROX-SVERS T-86 is the silica-alumina ceramic grade under its maker's name, rated to 1800°F (982°C), for beds above the A25 recommendation, and the alumina grades, PROX-SVERS T-46 and PROX-SVERS T-99, take the hot, wet, and silica-sensitive beds. Support layers are typically graded from the smallest balls directly under the working bed to the largest at the outlet collector, and the loading drawing sets the sizes and depths. Packaging is 1 cubic foot (28 liter) bags at about 84 lb (38 kg) net for sizes up to 1-1/4 inch, and 25 cubic foot (708 liter) bulk sacks in every size.
