Silica Gel

Interra Global Corp produces consistent, high-quality indicating and non-indicating sSORB® silica gels for a wide variety of applications as fluid cracking catalyst, catalyst support, packaging desiccant, compressed air dryers, and other static and dynamic solutions.

Interra Global Corp provides bulk sSORB® silica gel from a full container load to 55 pound bags. Silica gel comes in 3 main types: A, B, and C. Type-A silica gel is a narrow pore silica gel (with pore openings of approximately 28 angstroms) and comes in indicating and non-indicating forms. Indicating silica gels can be blue that turns pink when saturated, yellow that turns dark green when saturated, and yellow that becomes clear when saturated. The Type-A silica gel is available in beaded or granular shape. Type-B and Type-C silica gel are used for specific applications.

What is silica gel?

Silica gel is a desiccant, also called a drying agent. It is a very porous, hard type of silicon dioxide that is synthesized from sodium silicate. Silica gel stands out as having the greatest adsorbing capacity of the desiccants currently on the market. Composed of small linking pores, silica gel readily draws in moisture. Silica gel is inert, non-toxic, and non-flammable, allowing it to safely protect shipments of food, pharmaceuticals, and sensitive materials from moisture. Silica gel is regenerable; when exposed to heat the moisture in silica gel can be removed and the product can be used again. More.
