H2S Removal – Food Waste to Biogas
Organic waste sources generate large amounts of methane as they decompose. Releasing methane into the atmosphere can lead to environmental and public health risks. Methane can be captured from various organic wastes, and one of the most easily decomposable wastes comes from food. Food waste can be loaded into anaerobic digesters, which are also known as methane digesters, and utilized in biogas production systems instead of merely being disposed of. It can also be mixed with other feedstocks or biomass sources, such as livestock waste, to increase biogas yields. But before biogas generated from food waste can be used, it must first be purified of trace contaminants – one of the most harmful being hydrogen sulfide. To successfully convert the biogas from food waste into a source of energy, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) must be removed.
Our FerroSorp® H2S removal media will save you time any money with the many advantages provided below.
Benefits of using FerroSorp at your site:
FerroSorp® is iron hydroxide based, so it not only captures H2S but is able to do so in environments with low relative humidity and low or no oxygen. With the very small amount of oxygen in the anaerobic digesters, FerroSorp regenerates itself and continues converting adsorbed hydrogen sulfide into elemental sulfur. This elemental sulfur is nonhazardous and can be easily disposed.
