Reducing Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) from a gas stream is a critical step in landfill gas applications.
Our FerroSorp® media will remove your H2S and save your company time and money.
We Achieve the Highest Loading Rates:
FerroSorp® has a chemical makeup that not only captures H2S, with a small amount of oxygen it will convert the captured H2S to elemental sulfur. This chemical conversion will free up more adsorption space in the pellets. This means longer media life at your plant.
The removal of H2S from a gas stream can be described through the following chemical reactions:
- Adsorption: 2 Fe(OH)3 + 3 H2S → Fe2S3 + 6 H2O
- Regeneration: Fe2S3 + 1½ O2 + 3 H2O → 2 Fe(OH)3 + 3 S
Actual site media comparison:
At a gas processing site in Colorado that is making CNG vehicle fuel the company tried Sulfatreat and Iron sponge for H2S removal then FerroSorp®. Utilizing the same vessels and same gas conditions the following breakthroughs occurred when the H2S went to the allowable maximum of 50 ppm
- Sulfatreat – 1003 operating hours
- Iron Sponge – 1449 operating hours
- FerroSorp® – 2507 operating hours
