BASF DD-431 Claus Catalyst

BASF DD-431 Claus Catalyst is made up of spheres of high activity, non-promoted activated alumina with large surface areas and specifically engineered pores of varying size. It is used to catalyze the Claus process and other similar reactions. The Claus process converts undesirable hydrogen sulfide and other compounds to elemental sulfur.

What is the benefit of DD-431?

The custom tailored pore structure includes optimum levels of micro, meso and macropores, providing maximum access to active sites while minimizing condensation during normal operations. BASF DD-431 is perfect for use in sulfur recovery processes operated near or below the sulfur dew point. The third reactor of a Claus unit can be operated closer to the sulfur dewpoint to enhance sulfur recovery.

Storage

Store BASF DD431 activated alumina in a dry location to prevent premature water adsorption. Do not store super sacks outside; ultraviolet radiation and other adverse conditions will negatively impact its integrity and may eventually cause the bag to fail. Reseal packages after opening to prevent contamination and unintended water adsorption. We recommend that you rotate stock so the oldest material is used first.
